Publication Policies of the Magazine:

First: Submission of Research or Contributions

 

Second: Acceptance Criteria:

The Magazine accepts the publication of research in both Arabic and English, provided they meet the following conditions:

  1. Specialization and Subject Matter: "Iqra Magazine: Sharjah Libraries and Information Magazine" focuses on publishing scientific, theoretical, and applied research in the broad field of information science, including intersecting disciplines in the humanities, sciences, and technology.
  2. Rigor and Originality: Contributions must be original and meet the conditions of scientific research based on the scientific principles and methodologies recognized in academic research writing.
  3. Originality: Research submitted to the journal should not have been previously published in any form, whether in print or electronic format, and the researcher must undertake not to submit it for publication elsewhere until an appropriate decision is made in this regard.
  4. Uniqueness: The research should not constitute the entirety of a published book or scientific thesis.
  5. Length: The length of the research should not exceed 18 pages, single-spaced, and should include abstracts in both Arabic and English.
  6. Documentation: The research should be meticulously documented, with proper use of sources and references, and citations should follow the APA citation system.
  7. Copyright: The journal reserves all copyright rights.
  8. Types of Contributions: The journal welcomes translations, abstracts of approved master's and doctoral theses, research that has received prestigious awards, conference reports, seminars, and workshops, as well as presentations of newly released books in the field of the journal's specialization.
  9. Peer Review and Publication Decision: The journal decides on the validity of research for publication based on the opinion of specialized reviewers.
  10. Copy Retention: The journal is not obligated to return the original research materials submitted to it, whether published or unpublished.
  11. Accessibility Formats: Submitting research for publication and its acceptance in the journal implies implicit consent for the journal to make the research available in any format and in any database or digital repository without consulting the researcher.
  12. Additional Benefits: The researcher is provided with one copy of the issue in which their research is published.
  13. Matching: Upon receiving the research, the editor verifies its compliance with the journal's template format, completeness of research elements, relevance to the journal's scope, and absence of any form of literary theft, to make a preliminary decision on acceptance or rejection.
  14. Citation Checking: The research is subjected to plagiarism detection software before being sent for peer review. If the percentage of similarity exceeds 15% from a single source, the research is returned to the author. Regarding citations from websites, it is not preferred or should be extremely limited, not exceeding (5%-10%) of the total sources.
  15. Layout: The arrangement of materials during publication is subject to technical considerations unrelated to the status of the researcher or the value of the work.

 

 

Third: Publication Procedures/Steps:

  1. The required procedures are completed, and researchers commit to sending the necessary official documents to obtain all required approvals.
  2. The research is sent to members of the editorial board for evaluation of each research and its suitability for publication.
  3. The researcher is notified of the decision regarding the suitability of their research for publication through an official letter, and the research is published in the planned issue according to the priorities of publication.
  4. In case of feedback from the reviewers, these comments are sent to the researcher for necessary revisions, with a maximum deadline of one month for resubmission.
  5. After approval for publication, the necessary procedures are completed until actual publication.

 

Fourth: Technical Specifications and Guidelines for Researchers

  1. The research should be characterized by language accuracy and punctuation correctness.
  2. Follow a unified style for the main components of studies, research articles, presentations, and reviews (attached).
  3. Text should be written in vertical columns on a single page.
  4. If the research is derived from a scientific thesis, changes distinguishing it from the thesis must be made, such as adding new scientific knowledge, with a note on the first page indicating that the research is derived from a scientific thesis.
  5. The researcher's name or any reference to them should not be mentioned in the text of the research to ensure anonymity during the review process.
  6. Paper size: A4 with dimensions of 21 x 29 cm.
  7. Line spacing: Single spacing.
  8. Text should be written without diacritics.
  9. Fonts: From Word program (Word2010) under the Windows operating system as follows:

Sixth – Researcher's Name and Texts

With following the same formatting for the English-language research and standardizing the font type to Helvetica for all levels.

  1. Margins should be one inch from all sides, and line spacing should be single.
  2. Two abstracts, in both Arabic and English, should be included with the research, each within the range of 150-200 words.
  3. The number of pages for the research article or review should not exceed: Research and studies (15-18 pages) including figures, diagrams, appendices, and references. Articles (6-10 pages). Presentations and reviews (4-8 pages).
  4. The number of keywords should not exceed 5 words.
  5. Page numbering should be sequential from the first page to the last page.
  6. The research title page should include the name of the researcher(s), their affiliation, and email address.
  7. Tables, figures, and images within the research article or review should follow the following format:
    • Tables should be numbered (top of the table) sequentially according to their appearance in the text, with titles and referenced by the same sequence in the text.
    • Illustrations should be numbered (top of the figure) sequentially according to their appearance in the research, with clear and accurate titles, referenced by the same sequence in the text. Non-compliant figures should not be considered, and they should be attached separately with detailed explanations, editable.
    • Photographic images within the research should be provided in High-resolution PNG format, accurately representing their content, numbered and provided with clear and accurate titles at the top, attached separately in high-quality formats.
  8. Equations, if present, should be numbered sequentially according to their appearance in the research, with the number clarified in front of the equation.
  9. Documentation: The journal adopts the American Psychological Association (APA) citation system.

 

Fifth: Research Arbitration Mechanism

  1. All research articles submitted to "Iqra" magazine undergo a double-blind peer review process.
  2. Initially, research articles are reviewed by the editorial board to determine whether they comply with publishing standards and whether they are eligible for arbitration. The editor-in-chief may reject them either due to their lack of relevance to the scope and themes of the magazine or because of their low quality, rendering them unsuitable for consideration altogether.
  3. The editorial board reserves the right to reject any article without disclosing the reasons.
  4. Research articles deemed eligible for arbitration are sent to at least two reviewers who are experts in the field of the submitted article. Reviewers must be unknown to each other. They must also determine whether the article is publishable as is, publishable with minor changes, publishable with substantial changes, or not publishable at all.
  5. Authors alone bear responsibility for the content, not the editorial board or the magazine.
  6. Apology letters are sent to authors whose papers are not accepted for publication.
