Abstract
This article presents the book publishing experience of the Emirates Writers Union as an extension of its cultural role in supporting local creativity and promoting the book as a primary means of preserving and circulating literary and intellectual works. The author explains that the Union, through its Authorship and Publishing Committee, selects submitted works and evaluates them according to criteria such as significance, subject, content, literary and intellectual quality, and relevance to the Union’s cultural mission, before preparing reports and deciding whether to publish or decline the manuscript. The article also discusses production, printing, distribution, and the circulation of the Union’s publications inside and outside the UAE, including participation in book fairs and exchanges with Arab and international cultural institutions. It emphasizes that the Union’s publishing experience is not profit-driven, but seeks to support writers and young talents, document Emirati literary production, and expand its presence in the Arab cultural sphere. The article is significant as a documentary account of an institutional literary body contributing to book production, reading development, and the promotion of Emirati literature.
