Abstract

This statistical report presents selected indicators on Dubai Public Libraries for the year 2002 through documentary screenshots of the libraries’ website and online catalog, together with tables and charts on the use of library and electronic services. The item documents the website interface and catalog search service, then provides data on Internet users by gender and nationality, highlighting the role of electronic services within public library activity. It also presents the development of library membership over several years, monthly statistics on library use by category, and internal and external circulation distributed across libraries. The report further includes data on materials consulted at Dubai Central English Library during 2002. Its significance lies in documenting the move toward electronic services in Dubai public libraries and measuring indicators of use, membership, and circulation, thereby supporting service assessment, collection planning, and improved access to knowledge in Dubai’s urban environment.
