Abstract

This interview with Mamoun Talhouni, Director of the Jordanian National Library, examines the role of celebrating World Book and Copyright Day in promoting cultural advancement and raising awareness of book-related and intellectual property issues. The interview highlights the Jordanian National Library’s efforts in organizing events, seminars, and media campaigns to promote copyright awareness, as well as its role in following up on violations of intellectual property rights, particularly software piracy. It also presents Jordan’s experience in cooperating with the Business Software Alliance, strengthening the legal and institutional framework for rights protection, handling complaints, and conducting inspection campaigns.
