Abstract
This study examines the fihrists of scholars of the Maghreb and Al-Andalus as an important heritage source for documenting scholarly and cultural life, as well as networks of transmission, narration, and ijazah between scholars and students. It presents the concept of fihrist-making in the classical Islamic context and highlights its scientific and educational value in preserving the names of teachers, books, transmitted works, chains of authority, scholarly journeys, and educational programs. The study analyzes the components, types, and methods of recording these fihrists, while referring to examples that reveal scholarly communication between the Maghreb and Al-Andalus and the movement of books and knowledge among intellectual centers. It concludes that these fihrists are not merely lists of names or titles, but bibliographic and historical documents that help researchers trace intellectual production, authorship, transmission chains, and the structure of scholarly life in the Islamic West.
