Abstract

This article discusses the Jerusalem Heritage Digitization Project as a means of preserving the city’s cultural, religious, and historical memory and making it accessible to researchers and the wider public through digital media. It begins by raising the question of heritage and the role of modern technologies in serving it, emphasizing that digitization is not merely the conversion of manuscripts or images into digital files, but the creation of a searchable and organized digital library. The article highlights knowledge-related possibilities, including the digitization and online availability of books, manuscripts, documents, photographs, periodicals, studies, audiovisual materials, and other sources. It also discusses technical possibilities such as scanning, converting files into digital formats, and establishing an online platform for Jerusalem heritage materials. The article stresses the importance of bibliographic study, preservation priorities, and respect for intellectual property rights. It concludes that digitizing Jerusalem’s heritage is a necessary cultural and knowledge project that can protect Palestinian and Arab-Islamic memory while making it available globally.
