It explains the concept of electronic publishing in relation to the development of information carriers and highlights the impact of computers and the Internet on accelerating knowledge production, distribution, and access. The article discusses electronic journals as significant modern information sources, emphasizing their advantages in rapid availability, time saving, reduced cost, searchability, content updating, and the expansion of scholarly communication. It also addresses challenges related to copyright, control and evaluation standards, continuity of access, and the limited presence of Arab electronic journals compared with printed journals. The article further outlines criteria for selecting electronic journals, including publisher reliability, ease of use, archive availability, and publication regularity.
