Al-Rafid Index for the Year 2012

Abstract

This item presents a bibliographic index of Al-Rafid magazine for the year 2012, issued by the Libraries Department of the Sharjah Department of Culture and Information. Its purpose is to organize the magazine’s annual contents and facilitate access to published materials. The index is built around two main structures: a title index, which arranges items by title and provides references to issue and page locations, and an author index, which enables retrieval through the names of writers and contributors. The value of this work lies in its function as a bibliographic control and retrieval tool for researchers, readers, and librarians. It simplifies access to the contents of a multidisciplinary cultural periodical and supports the tracking of intellectual output in culture, literature, thought, libraries, arts, and heritage. The item also represents a practical model for indexing local cultural periodicals and demonstrates the role of annual indexes in preserving the editorial memory of magazines and supporting reference cataloging and bibliographic awareness in libraries and information centers.
