Sharjah Award for Library Literature: Knowledge Accumulation and Rich Experiences

Abstract

This introductory piece presents the Sharjah Award for Library Literature as one of the leading specialized awards in the field of libraries, documentation, and information in the Arab world. It emphasizes knowledge production, preservation, and retrieval as essential foundations for sustainable development and social well-being. The piece highlights the award’s role over more than two decades in promoting library, information, and knowledge awareness, in line with Sharjah’s cultural and scholarly vision for advancing libraries and information institutions. It focuses on the twenty-third edition of the award, held under the theme “Education, Learning, and Libraries: Paths to Integration, Empowerment, and Best Practices,” which targeted experiences and perspectives demonstrating the role of libraries and information institutions in supporting education and learning, strengthening cognitive and life skills, and promoting the practical use of knowledge. The piece concludes by noting Iqra magazine’s intention to present selected distinguished research from the award’s shortlist, thereby reinforcing continuous benefit, diversified dissemination, and recognition of serious scholarly contributions.
