Abstract
The study aimed to develop a foresight vision for the role of public libraries in promoting lifelong learning based on the dimensions of smart cities. It adopted a developmental analytical approach by reviewing the findings of previous studies published during 2022-2023, examining the current state of public libraries, and drawing on successful international experiences to build the proposed foresight vision. The vision was developed in light of eight smart city dimensions: digital amenities, smart growth, sustainable smart environment, smart governance, lifelong learning enhancement, digital accessibility, literacy, digital security, and digital citizen participation, according to the researchers’ perspective. The study recommends expanding the digital infrastructure of public libraries and providing continuous training for library staff and beneficiaries by skilled specialists in e-learning and its applications.
