Abstract
This article examines the impact of the library on children’s culture, emphasizing childhood as a foundational stage in shaping personality and developing intellectual, linguistic, and social abilities. The author argues that the library is not merely a place for storing books, but an educational and cultural institution that satisfies children’s knowledge needs, stimulates imagination, builds reading habits, and trains children in inquiry, discovery, and the use of information sources. The article discusses the concept of children’s culture and its relationship to the family, school, and society, then highlights the role of children’s libraries in encouraging free reading, developing language skills, and enriching children’s experiences through stories, picture books, and cultural and artistic activities. It also addresses the importance, types, and skills of reading, as well as the roles of the family, teacher, and librarian in fostering a love of books. The article further explores the functions of public, school, and electronic libraries in serving children, with attention to the future children’s library that employs modern technologies and multimedia to provide interactive and attractive access to knowledge. It concludes that the library is a fundamental source for children’s cultural and intellectual formation and for developing creativity and positive social participation.
